  Insecurity: Edo govt to recruit forest police 1st August 2022 Map of Edo State  The Edo State Government has finalised the documentation and audit of the state’s forests and is embarking on the recruitment of forest police as part of a renewed effort to enhance security across the state. According to a statement on Monday by Crusoe Osagie, Special Adviser, Media Project to Governor Godwin Obaseki, the Governor gave the assurance at different stakeholders’ meetings held in the state over the weekend. Obaseki said the government in partnership with relevant stakeholders is strengthening the security architecture and adopting various measures to sustain security in the state, including bush combing, registration of motorbikes and marketplaces, signing of the anti-grazing laws, and residents’ registration, among others. ASUU made another decree as regard the strike

  Again, ASUU extends strike by four weeks 1st August 2022 The National Executive Council of the Academic Staff Union of Universities has announced a four-week extension of the ongoing strike in public universities, The PUNCH reports. A statement made available to our correspondent in Abuja partly confirmed the development. It partly read, “Following extensive deliberations and taking cognisance of Government’s past failures to abide by its own timelines in addressing issues raised in the 2020 FGN/ ASUU Memorandum of Action (MoA), NEC resolved that the strike be rolled over for four weeks to give Government more time to satisfactorily resolve all the outstanding issues. The role-over strike action is with effect from 12.01 a.m. on Monday, 1st August 2022.” Details later

  Police reinforce ban  movement of motorcycles in kastina The Katsina State Police Command says the ban on motorcycle movements from 10p.m to 6a.m within the city will be reinforced by its operatives. Nigeria Police (VanguardNGR) This is contained in a statement by  SP Gambo Isa , the spokesman of the command, on Monday in Katsina. He added that the restriction in other Local Government Areas, especially the frontline areas, remained from 6p.m to 6a.m. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the state government banned motorcycle movements from the above mentioned time due to insecurity. Gov. Aminu Masari  of Katsina, however, lifted the restriction to ease movement during the month of Ramadan.
